The Junk

The Junk – officially known as June Hong Chian Lee – started her career in 1962 as a sailing boat transporting cargo, mainly teakwood, between Myanmar and Malaysia. In 1997, The Junk was completely renovated and converted into a comfortable liveaboard vessel. While all divers’ needs and wants have been taken into account, she has not lost any of her original charms.

The Junk, together with her sister boat The Phinisi, offers diving liveaboard trips all year round and is an exquisite choice for exploring the best dive sites of the Thai Andaman Sea; the Similan and Surin Islands, as well as Southern Phuket: Koh Phi Phi, King Cruiser, and notably the famous dive spots Hin Muang and Hin Daeng. The experienced dive guides will brief you on the dive site before each dive so you know which marine creatures may await you underwater. Diving from The Junk is done via dinghies to ensure you are dropped at the exact right spot on the dive site. Plus, the dinghy drivers remain on-site during the dive to provide surface support.

Aboard The Junk, the chefs serve up delicious meals and snacks 5 times per day, including 2x breakfast, ensuring you will never feel hungry. Enjoy your meals either in the saloon or outside on the spacious shaded deck. The air-conditioned saloon is fully kitted out with an entertainment system and is a great place to relax. Alternatively, there is the spacious outdoor shaded deck or the loungers and bean bags on the top sundeck, which offers amazing views. This 33m authentic wooden sailing vessel has her own claim to fame and has been used in several films, including James Bond’s ‘The Man With The Golden Gun’ and the ‘Swiss Family Robinson’.
